DFW Airport is one of the busiest in the US, in fact, in 2020 it was 2nd by passenger count only to Atlanta, having seen more robust flight numbers than many other airports during the Covid pandemic.

For those who are driving to the airport it is advisable to seek parking at offsite operators like Park 'N Fly as on-airport lot closures and demand means that at times there is no pre-paid parking available.

To find out how busy DFW is right now check the estimated security times above.

For such a large airport it's no surprise that DFW TSA wait times can sometimes be lengthy, especially during holidays and when weather causes flight disruptions. However, Dallas Ft Worth Airport scores much better than most large US Airports and it does have various things in place to make passage through the airport smooth.

Unusually there are multiple security checkpoints per terminal, which helps to decrease the overall line waits. A popular feature, added a few years ago is overhead signage, which details the expected DFW wait times per checkpoint.

TSA PreCheck is available at most terminals and there is a fast pass service available at terminal D.

Overall you should plan on getting to DFW 2 hours before your flight for a domestic trip or 3 hours for an international flight. Please though consider the information above and in addition we'd suggest checking your flight status before leaving home. You can do so here.

You can view the DFW TSA PreCheck locations and the lanes current status above. TSA PreCheck membership will mean greatly reduced DFW security wait times. To find out more about joining or renewing TSA PreCheck membership visit https://www.tsa.gov/precheck.
The wait times for non-US citizens arriving at DFW should not be too extensive. There is not a huge amount of overseas passengers arriving at the airport at any one time so huge line waits like you might see for International arrivals at JFK and LAX are rare. Many international visitors might be connecting at Dallas so for those passengers, it's worth making sure you give yourself plenty of time between flights as there is plenty of domestic flights originating at the airport. For those people with connecting flights at DFW Airport, it is wise to provide yourself with a 3-hour window between flights.
