It is possible to walk across the bridge starting on either the American or the Canadian side. However, the bridge is only open to pedestrians during daylight hours. This walk gives scenic views towards Clayton and the Rock Island Lighthouse. From the American side, you can park at 1000 Islands Welcome Center. From here, you can walk along the west side of the bridge. From the Canadian side, you can park at the Canadian Toll Centre or on Hill Island. Cyclists are permitted to push their bike across the sidewalk.

Bicycles may be walked along the sidewalks only. Cyclists are not permitted to ride on the Thousand Island Bridge.

Thousand Island Bridge Tolls:

For cars, pickups, and motorcycles with no more than two axles, the toll is $3.25 USD or $4.25 CAD.

For each additional axle, for instance, on a trailer, there is an additional charge of $2.00 USD or $varies CAD

RVs, school buses and island delivery vehicles which have two axles are charged at $8.00 USD or $10.00 CAD.

Commercial trucks and buses with two axles are charged at $8.00 USD or $10.00 CAD. There is then an additional charge per axle of $2.00 USD or $2.75 CAD. This goes up to eight axles, which is charged at $20.00 USD or $26.50 CAD.

If an escort if required, there is a fee of $150 USD or $200 CAD.

For regular commuters, there is a discount fare card available. Sixteen trips cost $26.00 USD or $33.00 CAD. Seventy-two journeys cost $38.00 USD or $52.00 CAD.

The bridge is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

US citizens entering Canada may also use the following as identification;

For under 16s, a birth certificate or a certified copy of a birth certificate must be shown. If the parents of the children are not present, then a signed, handwritten note with contact details for the parents must be shown.
