The Andrade Port of Entry is the most eastern border crossing in California and the most northern one in Mexico. The border crossing has been in operation since 1927 and connects Baja California with Los Algodones.

You can cross the border on foot here. Even though it is relatively remote and located in the desert, It is, in fact, quite a popular crossing point.
There is no toll to pay to cross the border. You just have to pass through an immigration checkpoint. However, if you travel more than 22 miles into the country, you may need to pay a fee of around $22.
The Andrade border is open seven days a week from 6 am to 10 pm. During this time, there is one lane for commercial vehicles and three lanes for passenger vehicles.
Early in the morning, the wait time is at its longest of about 40 minutes. For the shortest wait time of 10 minutes, you’ll need to arrive around midday.
On the Mexican side of the border, a 5-minute walk from the crossing is the town of Algodones. There are a few local shops along with a large number of pharmacies. This is because Algodones is a popular destination for medical tourism.
If you are visiting for this reason, be aware that you can only bring back a 90-day supply of prescriptions. If you attempt to bring back more, then they may be confiscated at the border. You will also need to declare anything you buy. US citizens can bring back goods, duty-free with a value of up to $800.
With the enhanced focus on security on the Mexican border, you need to make sure that you have proper ID. For American citizens, you need one of the following forms of ID;
• Passport
• Passport Card
• Enhanced Driver’s License
• Trusted Traveler Program Card
For children under the age of 16, you might be asked to show an original birth certificate at the border.
For non-American citizens, you should have your passport as well as any visas you used to originally enter the country.
