The Pacific Highway Crossing is known as the ‘Truck Crossing.’ This is because trucks are not permitted at the Peach Arch border on Highway Five and are instead diverted to here. Pedestrians cannot cross at the Pacific Highway Crossing; however, they can cross via Peach Arch park just a short distance away. The walk across Peace Arch park is about half a mile, and visitors must report to Canadian immigration.
There is no toll for crossing the Pacific Highway Border. NEXUS cards cost $50 for a five-year membership and can speed up the time it takes to cross the border.
The crossing is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and NEXUS cardholders can use the crossing from 7 am to midnight into Canada. NEXUS cardholders can avoid many of the queues by using the faster lanes.
Duty-free shopping is available on the Blaine to Pacific Highway crossing, and the West Coast Duty-Free Store is one of the largest in British Columbia. You are allowed to bring $200 worth of duty-free goods across the border on a 24-hour trip. For a 48-hour trip, you can bring back items up to the value of $800, excluding alcohol and tobacco.
You will be required to have all the relevant documentation when crossing the border in order to pass through immigration. Canadian citizens must have with them either a Canadian passport, a NEXUS card, an enhanced driving license (EDL), an enhanced identification card (EIC) or a Free and Secure Trade (FAST) card. Non-Canadian residents must have a valid passport and any relevant visas or an ESTA visa waiver for US travel. A general rule for crossing the border is to bring as much information and identification as possible.
