Calais International Avenue Border Wait Times & FAQ’s

Joining St Stephen in New Brunswick, Canada, and Calais in Maine, USA, the International Avenue Bridge is a busy border crossing between the two countries. Opened in 2009, International Avenue is one of the newest connections in the areas. Already it is the busiest of the three bridges that connect these two communities and the eighth busiest border crossing on the Canada/USA border.

The bridge is open to commercial vehicles, passenger vehicles, buses, campers, through traffic, local traffic and pedestrians.

As a very busy port, the traffic can be heavy with up to two-hour delays. It is wise to check for up-to-date traffic conditions before setting out on your journey.

The bridge is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. There are several lanes across the bridge to improve traffic conditions, but visitors can check ahead to determine how many lanes are open and the delays at the border crossing.
