Los Indios Border Crossing Wait Times & FAQ’s

Opened in 1992, the Los Indios Port of Entry is a crossing for both passenger and commercial vehicles. Linking Los Indios in Texas to Matamoros in Tamaulipas, it is a popular crossing between the United States and Mexico. The Los Indios bridge is also known as the Free Trade International Bridge, and it is a mid-size crossing in a rural location.

It is nearby to three border crossings located in Brownsville, Texas, giving travelers in the area a lot of choices.

Pedestrians are permitted to cross the Los Indios International bridge on foot; however, because of the length of the bridge and its rural location, it is not a popular pedestrian crossing.
Passenger vehicles crossing at the Los Indios bridge will incur a toll of $3.25, and pedestrians pay $1. Commercial vehicles will be required to pay $8.50 for 2 axles and an additional $3.50 for each axle thereafter.
The border at Los Indios to Matamoras is open between the hours 6 am, and 12 am every day, and there are four lanes available for vehicles. The Banjercito office is open between 9 am and 6 pm.
There are no duty-free outlets at the Los Indios border crossing in either Mexico or the United States' sides.
When crossing the border, all travelers must have a valid passport with them. To avoid complications, it is best to have a passport that has at least six months of validity left after the date of arrival in either Mexico or the United States. Those with RFID-equipped travel documents such as new US passport cards (since 2011) can utilize the Ready Lanes. Depending on the country of origin, some travelers may require a visa to cross the border. Anyone planning on crossing the border and staying in Mexico or the United States for over 180 days will be required to apply for a visa.
