Yes, you can walk across the Rainbow Bridge into Canada. The same ID requirements and customs inspections apply for pedestrians and cyclists as for those crossing by motor vehicles. Pedestrians and cyclists pay a $1 toll at a turnstile on exiting Canada.
There is a great view of the falls when crossing the bridge by foot.
From the US access the bridge via the parking lot near Busti Avenue. From Canada access the sidewalk from Mather Arch Park.
Commercial vehicles and trucks are not allowed.
Tolls are paid crossing into Canada only and are $3.75 (USD) for non commercial vehicles.
Buses are charged from $10.25 (USD)
Pedestrians and cyclists are charged $1 at a turnstile when leaving Canada.
For special loads that require lane closures or traffic management, there may be additional fee’s and it is advised to call the bridge authority in advance. Call 716-285-6322 (US) or 905-354-5641 (Canada).

The Rainbow Bridge is open 24/7/365 though specific or all lanes can be subject to demand, maintenance or weather-related closures.
For most US & Canadian travelers one or more of the following will suffice:
- Enhanced Drivers License
- Enhanced Non Driver ID
- Passport
- Permanent Residents Card
- US Passport Card
- FAST Card
- NEXUS Card
For those under 15 a birth certificate or other proof of citizenship is required.
