Douglas Border Crossing Wait Times & FAQ’s

The Port of Entry located in Douglas, Arizona has been operating since 1914. In 2015 it was renamed the Raul Hector Castro Port of Entry. It was named to honor former Arizona governor, Raul Hector Castro.

You can walk across the Douglas border at this port of entry. Thousands of pedestrian crossing are made each month.
There is no toll for crossing the Douglas border between the United States and Mexico. If you are planning to stay within the free zone then you don’t need to worry about paying any fees for crossing or for your vehicle. If you plan to stay for more than 72 hours or will be traveling beyond 12 miles of the border then you may have to pay $22 fee.
The Douglas border is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Douglas AZ port of entry is particularly busy. As a result, the average wait time is 45 minutes, but at peak times the wait extends over an hour.
There are two duty-free locations on the US side of the border that are in close proximity to the border crossing.  The first is located on Chirichua Road. The store is open from 10 am to 6 pm Monday to Saturday. On Sundays, it is open from 10 am until 4 pm. The other duty-free location is closer to the border on 3rd street. It is open 10 am until 6 pm Monday to Saturday. This store does not open on Sundays.
When crossing the US- Mexico border, you need to show an approved form of ID. The most common forms of ID used are a passport of PASS (passport card). You can also use a Trusted Traveler Card, which includes NEXUS, SENTRI or FAST. Military personnel can use their military ID only when traveling on official orders. At this port of entry, you can use both SENTRI and ready lanes to expedite your crossing. You will still need to have one of the standard forms of identification with you to get over the border.
