Connecting Lyndon in Washington, USA with Aldergrove in British Columbia, Canada, the Lynden – Aldergrove border crossing has had a customs office in place since 1889. The roads that terminate at the border crossing include the Washington State Route 539 and the British Columbia Highway 13.

It is a busy commercial route and is popular with trucks. However, many choose this crossing as a preference because the traffic moves at pace whereas at some you may be in standstill traffic for hours. That said, the border crossing has experienced delays of up to three hours.

Yes, it is possible to walk across the border at Lynden – Aldergrove. Make sure to take all of your official ID for inspection and a relevant visa if you are traveling into the United States.
There is no cost to cross the border between Lynden and Aldergrove.
The Lynden-Aldergrove border crossing is open from 8 am until midnight every day of the week, all year round. There are two commercial lanes and three passenger lanes entering the United States and two commercial lanes and five passenger lanes entering Canada. There is a NEXUS lane which operates daily from 10 am to 8 am into Canada.
There is a Duty-Free Americas store in Lynden. It is open from 8 am until 10 pm every day of the week. There is also an Aldergrove Duty-Free Shop. From Saturday to Thursday the store is open from 7.45 am to 9 pm. On Friday, the store has longer opening hours and is open from 7.45 am to 10 pm.
At the border crossing, you will be asked by border control to present a valid form of ID. The process is usually quicker if you use a government-approved photo ID such as a passport, passport card, or Enhanced Driver’s License. You can also use a NEXUS card. For entry into the United States, you will also need a valid visa. Remember that children will also need a valid ID. If a parent is absent, then the adult will need to have written permission to take the child across the border. This letter needs to have full contact details and state that you are authorized to travel with the child.
